From the AP Board

Okay, this really confuses me, so I actually asked her about this, hopefully I don't get flamed, I lurk on the AP board and hardly ever post.  She says she isn't happy formula feeding and wants to move her daughter off of it, her baby is only 7 months.  Am I missing something, can you do that??  Or do you think the mom is just so disappointed in herself for not being able to breastfeed that she'd actually stop feeding her daughter formula?  I take it as she is not happy she has to give formula and would rather not give it since she cannot EBF.

IDK.  I'm curious to see what she says though.

  • Her OP confuses me too.  I'd agree with you.

Did you see the other one on 2nd tri today about "who's not BFing", there was a sh!tstirrer in that one.

  • I hope she isn't so upset about not BF'ing that she'd discontinue formula prior to 1 year.  But that is they way I read it of course things can get read out of context when online so who knows.

I was a little disappointed in myself for not continuing to BF, but not so much that I'd stop giving formula.  I guess I'll just never understand some people.

  • It is a completely personal choice and I don't judge people who do or don't.

My friend has been miserable for about a month trying to bf and could get maybe .5oz out pumping and was already supplementing w/formula.  She called to get my advice and I told her exactly what she wanted to hear...that it is ok to stop and she's still a great mom.  Unfortunately that wasn't the support she was getting from others.  I don't get it.

  • In her response she said she didn't think the baby needed formula for the whole first year if they were on solids because they would be getting too many vitamins. ::head desk::
