Hey you said you love to quilt. Where do I start I am interested in quilting and I don't really wanna take a class. Do you quilt on a machine or do you quilt by hand? I am thinking of doing a quilt type thing with applicay's where would I find a pattern for something like that!!!
Re: *paramedicswife*
I have made many blankets before but I've just recently started teaching myself about quilting. I haven't taken any classes, I have just found blogs and started by reading the tips on them to teach myself how to do it. I'm currently working on my first quilt top that will be quilted for a close friend that is pregnant.
To get started, I already had a sewing machine and was very familiar with how to use it from making blankets before. I also purchased a large cutting mat, a rotery cutter, and a nice ruler. I ordered precut fabrics (Make Life from Moda) and started making a quilt similar to this free pattern I found online. I'm making some changes to the layout as I wanted the final size to be larger than the pattern called for. I'm also going to applique the baby's name either on the back/front bottom corner (depending on what will look best in the end). I plan to use this tutorial to applique his name on the blanket once I finish quilting it. The blog Piece N Quilt has several free patterns that include applique. I haven't actually bought any patterns yet (because I've found so many great ones online) so I'm not sure where a good place to find quilt patterns would be. Good luck!
Sorry Pam! I'm here to list them now; we've had Bible School all week and I've pretty much came home, showered, and jumped in bed!
