The crock pot post got me thinking.......What are some of your favorite recipes? We do a busy day chicken that is so yummy, but since DH is not a huge fan of pot roast we don't really use ours much.
Here is the one we like - Busy Day Chicken
prepare a whole chicken (take the nasty bits out lol) and set in crockpot breast side down and pour a bottle of your favorite bbq sauce (make sure to pour some inside the chicken too). Add about a cup of water and let cook on low for about 8-9 hours.
Re: Crock pot recipes
This blog has a bunch of slower cooker recipes that I have tried.
http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/
I tried one the other day where I threw in:
frozen boneless skinless chicken breast
Can of corn
can of black beans
jar of salsa
some water
taco seasoning
can of green chilis.
cooked all day on low then served over rice.
It was pretty tasty. Next time I would throw some fresh cilantro on it right before serving.
Italian beef...put a 1-2lb beef roast, a package of italian seasoning (like the kind to make dressing with), a jar of pepperocinis, and a can of beer in the crock pot and let it cook for 8 hours. the tastiest!
If you don't like or don't want to use beer then I think using beef broth would work also.
We use ours alot. I make chili, Chicken tortilla soup and my favorite, bbq pulled chicken...
4-6 boneless skinless chicken breats
1 bottle of bbq
1 cup of italian dressing
1/4 brown sugar
the chicken is to die for and shreds right up....perfect for sandwichs, salads, you name it.
Pulled Pork (which I am now craving)
Cheap cut of pork (no need to buy the expensive cut of tenderloin)
1 packet of onion soup
Cook on low for approx. 8 hours
And that's it. It's amazing and I try to keep this recipe to myself because it's almost embarrassingly simple! (no need to add a liquid - the pork will create it's own juice - otherwise you'll be scooping out the liquid).
We add our bbq sauce to the sandwich - or not...it's so good bbq sauce isn't even necessary.
