I am nit the best cook and so that is why I ask you gals because you know how to cook Smile George got some fresh squash and okra and I would like to fix fried squash and fried okra this weekend. Do you have any good receipes? I found some online but I never know if they are good or not and I get scared to try them.

Re: Cooking help

  • My MIL makes fried okra and I think all she does is just dip it in egg and then flour and drop it in some vegetable oil in a frying pan. I don't think she does anything special to it. I'm sure you could do the squash the same way... or make the squash like you would if you were doing eggplant parm and coat it in breadcrumbs and fry it.
  • If Brandi doesn't see and respond to this, send her a FB message.  I'm sure this is the kind of thing she has an awesome recipe for.

  • I tell you what the best dish to use squash with. Cut it up and some onion put in some water and let it cook. but dont let it cook for too long just enough to get it cooked down. yum!

i know what i use to do for fried okra is dip it buttermilk and then flour or corn meal and but vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet. dont let the oil get too hot where it splatters and it will cook the okra too fast.

I was thinking the same thing. I am no help since I don't eat either of those. But what Laura said sounds good too.
