Ok not like can't pay our bills but we have both only just started working and I don't want to spend a bunch of $$ on things that are 'necessary'. I really really want to get Conner 2 year old pictures taken by the photographer who did his 1 year pics but it's like $200.
I know studio portraits are uber cheesey (even with an adorable suject :0) but has anyone had a good and relatively cheap experience with the standards (i.e JCP, Sears, Etc)
Re: We Po WWYD?
We had a great experience with Portrait Innovations, and they actually got some great ones of DD that weren't studio cheesy at all. They had a photographer who got down on the floor with a digital camera instead of just one of those giant stationary cameras. (Although maybe all of the studios do that now? They didn't when DD was little, though.)
They're running a package special where you can get 40 pictures in the same pose for $10. And they don't make you pick which photo you want for the package until you look at all of the photos at the end, which is so much better than the other places where they make you pick the package photo and then take 20 pictures that are five times cuter so you have to shell out the extra bucks for the cuter ones.
We actually use Target and JCP. We only get pictures done for special occasions. But we don't like to spend a buttload of cash. For M's 1st year pictures I think they turned out really cute. We brought our own balloons and she had a tutu on with wings. My neice had her 5 year pictures done at JCP and they were adorable. You can bring your own cupcake/cake/whatever. Plus I believe when you sign up online with either JCP or Target you get coupons.
We usually get out of there with lots of wallets, 5X10s, and 8X10s for around $100. HTH!
I've asked around but soooo many photographers here are so proud of their work they try to charge you like $500 for a cd of your images.
Tavia I'm really missing you right now!!! cuz ya know your made photog skillz.
I think I'm going to call JCP b/c 1) it's the only place here besides Walmart 2) That $4 a sheet is pretty sweet deal.
I pulled up Craigs List, and under the "services" section I typed in photographer. Quite few photographers who are beginning their business, and look very reputable--many have blogs with their photos, too, with good work.
Might be worth a look!
