Do you think it's possible to paint a hallway, one wall of a dining room, and 3 bedrooms (smaller ones, biggest is 13x11) on a Saturday, two coats?
We are doing complete masking, removing of hardware, etc.
I don't want to buy the paint and then not be able to do it and Sunday is out because we have a concert so I need to try to get it all Saturday. (Plus we want to leave the drop cloths down and masking tape up, and my stupid cat chews on the plastic and tape so we don't want to leave it overnight where we can't watch her.)
Re: Beck - painting
You are taping ahead of time? You and Dave will be doing all this painting alone? It could be done, but I think you will regret trying to get that much done in one day. You might need second coats and your bodies will be so sore you will want to die.
Can you tape tonight, paint the hallway and dining room Friday after work?
We painted 1 large bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, hallway, bathroom and family room all in one day. The next day we had to do second coats and finish triming. Three people did all that in 2 days.
Well, our house is on the market so I'm trying to get it all done as quickly as possible. One of my friends is celebrating her birthday Friday, so I don't know about doing anything Friday night. And I was planning on taping on Saturday, too. My cat chews plastic and tape and we can't really leave it out overnight or she'll chew it and throw up...
Do you think tape is ok to leave up for a few days if we can figure out the cat issue? (In the bedrooms, I could close the doors, with the exception of our room.)
The dining room wall that is left is pretty small. We actually did both the living room and dining room, 2 coats on Tuesday afternoon/evening. By the time we finished the 1st coat, the beginning was dry and I only went over it for the 2nd coat with a roller, and just touched up with the brush yesterday after work where it needed it.

You could do the second coat Sun or Monday. I don't see why you can't wait longer between coats.
I would try to get as much done as you can on Saturday. If you have to leave one of the bedrooms to do another time no big deal.
what colors are you painting? are your walls bad that they need paint?
The walls are all white. We had a stager come in Tuesday morning and she made a lot of suggestions on furniture arrangements, decorations, etc. I might post before/after on here just because I think it's going to make a huge (good) difference.
We're doing:
Living room/Dining room/Hall - Biltmore Buff
Master bedroom - Reflection
Guest bedroom (gets LOTS of light) - Threshold Taupe
Office/3rd bedroom (gets LOTS of light) - Bittersweet Stem

Reflection didn't seem to show up:

Hmm I still can't see it but it's basically silver/gray with a very very light blue tint. I tried to click on the tinyurl and it was blocked at work but the other 3 weren't so hopefully I didn't just post something offensive...

Keep an eye on facebook, I've been updating there. Dave thought that the living room/dining room color might have too much yellow, but putting the furniture back in place helped, and I think that new decorations (art, throw pillows, curtains) will also help.
And I told him yellow = Steelers/Pirates, haha.

BIP - Love the color choices!
Keeping in mind for your timeframe for painting - you'll need more time. From my experience - we did our house 2 years ago and now recently we're helping with our friends house right now ---PAINTING IS TIME CONSUMING!
My house with baseboards, trim/doors/cabinents and walls and everything...took 4 of us - maybe 3 entire weekends. That's priming and painting and doublecoating. (Also I had 3 colors to work with, and limited paint tools - so you finish all the colors with one and then wash the tools for the next room and so forth).
Our friends house - no doors/cabinents/or baseboards - just straight painting - because they are starting from ground zero - it took us a day with 4 people to paint 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a hallway - doublecoat. But it was already primed to paint beforehand as well. (Bathrooms to me are the hardest to paint because of the tight space and paint needs at least 4 hours to dry. (They are only using 2 colors - so it was faster with our paint supplies on hand).
Good luck Jen with all your painting....Becky and Art did a fantastic job on their house given their time constraints. ;-)
Yeah this is going to be a really big job for us. Well, I'm going to buy the paint and go as far as I can. At least if I get the hallway and master bedroom done, I could work more slowly on the other 2 bedrooms, because I can close the doors to keep the cat out... The 3rd bedroom needs the paint the most- there is one yucky pale blue accent wall that I had never painted over, and it has scuff marks throughout that have been there since I bought the place. But if I can do that some evenings after work, we should be ok.
I have to do this really really fast since it's still on the market and someone could come to look at it. Plus I'm really working towards getting new pictures up to hopefully generate SOME interest in the house.
The one advantage I have is that the rooms we're doing aren't too bad- we already removed most art, so we have to mask the baseboard, ceiling, closet, and take down the window hardware. So hopefully that's going to help with getting this done. My lofty goal is to get it done this weekend, but I'd really like it done by mid week so we can start replacing some of the window treatments, adding the decorations, rearranging the pictures, and get the listing updated the week of August 9th. Crossing my fingers!!
