Lady formerly known as KMT

lol Well technically you *are* KMS.

What cruise line are you taking for your HM?

Re: Lady formerly known as KMT

  • Lol!  We're going on Carnival, we got a great deal through them and I couldn't justify spending an extra grand for another, similar, line :)

  • Fun!!!  Cruising is the best!!!

**dreaming of drinking on a boat in the ocean**

  • ILs cruise all the time, I was a little wary of it, but after doing some research, it is by far the most affordable option for us and I figured we might as well give it a shot!  Esp. since I can't sit out in the sun for hours and hours on vaca
    image
  • It's definitely affordable if you don't go nuts with the extras. (And by extras I'm not talking margaritas. lol)
  • :)  Well, what's great is that we're going Jan 1st, so we're going to ask for excursions as holiday gifts.....so we might have pretty much everything paid for by our families as far as the expensive stuff, or some of it anyway!  Plus, H is getting a job (cross your fingers!) and then it'll be even easier for us.  Seriously, that would make everything amazing!

  • What kind of job is Mr. CAS looking for?

And woot for having the fam paying for excursions and such! :o)

  • Butting in!

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Cruises! But I never been on carnival only Royal Caribbean

    Where is the cruise going?

He's looking for pharmacyish jobs.  He wants nothing to do with a drugstore job and at this point because he's graduating in May, they make you sign this form that you'll stay with the company for 2-5 years.  So that's out.  He wants to work in a hospital, but it's much more difficult for them to accommodate his crazy rotation schedule.  Either way, he'll find something!  I hope anyway :)

How is your job hunt going?  Where are you looking?

We were looking at RC too!  But the same cruise was a lot more money and although it may be a better cruise all around, I would rather save a little.

The ship docks at the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Maarten but we aren't getting off at the Bahamas.  First off it's only there until 2 pm.  Secondly, it'll be cold.  Thirdly, H and I didn't like the Bahamas the last time we were there so we don't feel the need to go back.  Now, St. Thomas and St. Maarten on the other hand, we are WICKED excited about!

  • Speaking of those ports, have you ladies ever been there?  Any suggestions on excursions if you have?
    image
  • We went to St. Maarten and loved it! We did a sunset dinner cruise while we were there and had a lot of fun. Since you're on a cruise I'm sure that's not really something you'd want to do though and I'm not sure how time frames are on cruises. They have zip lines and parasailing. I was told they have a butterfly farm and zoo. We didn't do any of that because we're afraid of heights and spent most of our time at the bar on the beach. We really enjoyed eating at Pineapple Pete's. Have fun!!
  • Butting in, H and I went to St Thomas to get married. The port where your boat will come in has all kinds of really nice shops there, Coach, Gucci, etc, also there is a sushi restaurant right there at the port and some other restaurants that always looked fun and exciting! You can take a water ferry from that port into "town" and do more bargain shopping as well. At the port that you will come in to you can go parasailing from there. H and I did that, it was fun! If you love sushi, take a cab and go to Frenchtown in St Thomas and eat at En Kai. It was by far the best sushi I have ever had!

Loved St. Thomas! :o)  It's such a beautiful island. We went to something called Blackbeard's Castle and drank a lot of rum punch. lol

I hope one of the kazillion hospitals has something available that works with his rotations! :o)

I applied for a couple in finance (Boston Private Bank, Liberty) and some with other companies doing other business-y type things (like I applied for 3 operations positions at Langham Hotel and a concierge position at Copley Fairmont -- might as well take advantage of all my useless touristy knowledge and maybe teach the tourists how to behave! lol  I'm also going to apply to BHH for a concierge position there and also a couple of accounting thing in their corporate office (which is also at Rowes Wharf, interestingly enough).

I might apply to some stuff at State Street (even tho they are the evil empire. *sigh*)

You will find something!!!  Someone will snatch you up :)  But, really, good luck!  You would be such a kicka$$ concierge!  I worked in concierge work for awhile, you would be great!!!!  Better than I ever was that's for sure.

Thanks! I hope someone swoops up and saves me... errr... hires me.

What was it like being a concierge? Lots of obnoxious tourists asking how to get to Cheers every day? hahaha

  • Well, I was a concierge in Boston, but our clients were all over the world.  We were the concierge company for a major credit card.  Lots of C.RAZY requests.  I'm talking freaking nuts.  But always had a ton of stuff to talk about.  I would assume you would be doing a ton of restaurant reservations, telling everyone about the freedom trail and explain that Cheers isn't really that Cheers but the other Cheers and people will still never understand what you're really trying to tell them.
