Changing name on passport??
I feel like ever since we got back from our honeymoon, all i have been doing is going places to change my name! This morning i thought about my passport. Does anyone know what i need to do to change my name on my passport? Is it a pain? I don't want to change it because I love all my stamps in there...but it is something that comes with marriage I guess
Re: Changing name on passport??
I have to do that next week myself. You'll need to send in new pics, fill out Form DS-82 (link below), pay stinkin' fat-a$$ fee, send your original marriage certificate (that will be returned unharmed), & send your old passport.
(I don't know if this link will work...but here it is for Form DS-82)

PS
I *still* don't have my name changed on everything either!
HTH!

Yep! I didn't find the process all that bad...and yes they do send you your old passport back. There will be a stamped hole in it (about the size of a hole punch.)
This scares me!! For you ladies who have done this, did you send it via certified mail or what??
I sent mine certified with the signature card that was sent back to me so I know 100% that they got it. Now I'm just waiting to get it back, which I think should be any day now since I've heard it only takes a couple of weeks.
Ok, thanks!
I was wondering how long it would take too...so that is awesome to hear! We don't leave for MX until Oct., but I am a worry-wort by nature!

So glad to see you ladies are taking as long as me.
I just got my certificate Tuesday and have not yet mailed it to wedo to have it translated..prob not doing that until next week..then the fun name changing stuff begins..
I can see now why women just keep their married last name when they get divorced! It's a PIA!
I sent it certified. I also made sure to make a copy of it (I also scanned it into my computer) just in case something happened to it.
