On my way home from errands today, I saw a bunch of signs that WB 196 is open, two lanes.
Does anyone know if this is just temporary? I guess I'm assuming so, since the signs weren't taken down about re-routing, and had boards on them covering up the detour route. Just thought I'd ask, since I'll be having family come downtown to the hospital from Lansing, and I gave them directions to avoid 196, but if it's open, I'll give them directions to avoid the detour. Thx.
Re: WB 196 Open
I came to work on EB 196 (getting off at Ottawa) and there were two lanes open and the 131 N to 196 E interchange was open again. But yes, the detour signs were all still out (but covered) and there was a lot of construction truck traffic still around.
Here's an article on what's going on: http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2010/07/fix_on_i-196_crews_may_reopen.html.
If I'm reading the article right, the lanes will remain open.
