Andrew told me yesterday his contract on this project will extend to next September, so we're going to be looking for a house around San Francisco. My major issue was I didn't want to rent out our house (especially on short notice) and wanted to be able to go home whenever I wanted. I was very worried about getting a renter who would trash our house, especially since we were hoping to return in a year. Andrew FINALLY agreed with me and we decided to start looking for a house to rent. We plan to return to our house on the weekends and I'll probably go there during the week every now and then. We're going to use the money he's been spending on a hotel each night to rent a small house in Pacifica, which is an adorable town on the ocean! (So excited!). So the house search begins! The major downside is I'm may have to leave my OB and may not be delivering at the hospital I hoped. Although, I'm thinking if we're going to keep our house, I may just move back home a few weeks before I give birth and still be able to have my baby at the hospital I want to. Also, most of my OB appts are on Mondays or Fridays, so I probably could maintain there. There's a lot to think about, but Andrew and I have reached the breaking point where we are tired of living apart during the week and the thought of our baby only seeing his/her dad only on the weekends breaks my heart and I think it's weighing on Andrew.

Andrew is about 1.5 hours away from home without traffic (up to 3 hours with traffic) and (hopefully) it wouldn't be a quick labor and Andrew could head home on short notice. He plans to take 2 weeks off after the baby is born and I figured with the holidays he could also try to work from home as well if the people around him take time off or just go into work for meetings while we are waiting for Jack/Natalie to arrive. We'll have a better idea as it gets closer though.
I'm glad to hear that this is happening for you guys. Darn engineers and their lengthy projects. This is such positive news for you - you get Andrew everyday and Andrew and you are not apart. That's always tough, and especially since you are home alone. Living in a hotel for that amount of time...gets monotanous and boring. Home will be wherever you guys are together, and you'll still have your house in Sac.
Plus, Becky can always stop by and check on Jack/Natalie from her commute on the Bart...she can always make detours right? Heck, I might come up and visit SF/Napa and visit the both of you on a spur moment when I get a good deal on SWA!! hehehe
