State Fair

Do you go to your State Fair? Is it a big deal? What's your fave thing to eat at the fair?

The CA State Fair is pretty huge - we're going on Sun. We usually spend about 6 hours + there just looking at the exhibits. DH always has a turkey leg and funnel cake - I always have to have dippin dots. This year they're apparently serving up deep-fried alligator, deep-fried crickets and deep-fried bacon. Not sure about those crickets.

Re: State Fair

  • I don't think I've ever been to any state fair!  The one here is a pretty big deal (or so I've heard), but it's pretty far away from us.

As a kid, I loved going to the county fair in my grandpa's county.  It was a farming area, so the fair was always awesome with tons of animals, and they even had a track for horse racing.  And the rides were fun, too, of course.  Smile

  • We have one here and it is pretty big but it is so darn hot that we have never been to it. I wish they would hold it like in october as it is 98-100 degrees here the week it is going on and I am not going to get out in it.

I could go for a funnel cake though :)

We used to go all the time when we were kids.  My first concert was Reba, at the state fair- I was a baby :)

I love the corn, corn dogs, funnel cakes....yum!

  • oo kellie i love me some reba!

we have a big state fair but it is in a town about 2 hours away so i have never been. we have a fair another town away and it is considered "mississippi's largest house party". it is a 2 week event...they have country concerts, rodeo, flea market, rides, political speakers, anything. what makes it unique is people build "houses" out there and they are all painted bright colors and people stay there for the entire 2 weeks. it is a big to do.

my favorite fair food...chicken on a stick or corn dog
