I just learned that one of our friends from Denver (a rugby teammate of DH's) is moving to Alaska next month. (He actually grew up there.) Is it bad that my first thought is that we'd now have a free place to stay if we ever want to go up there to visit?

I'd love to go there!

Re: Alaska
I think the same things when my friends move!
And I have always wanted to go to Alaska too!
Baby #2 - D&E - 10/1/10 @ 19w2d - thanatophoric dysplasia confirmed.
Charlotte Lillian will be forever in our hearts.
Baby #3 - Little Bean - natural miscarriage - 1/17/11 @ 5w5d
Can we come w/ or would that be overstaying your welcome?
I hope you get to visit. Do you ever watch R5Sons? I think it's on HRDTV or some farming channel. They make me want to visit their ranch but I'm pretty sure it's super expensive.

A couple I went to HS with is stationed there right now, and man do I get jealous seeing her pics on FB. It's beautiful!
I am the same way when my friends move. I always get a little bummed when they move to places that are not that exciting!
My great aunt and uncle actually lived there for about 20 years until my uncle died. They moved there to work with the oil. We got to visit them atleast once every 5 years so my grandmother could visit with her sister. I loved the place such beautiful land.
On a side note I had my first bear experience there. My aunt and uncle kept telling us that there were bears there and they had a momma bear and baby bear that kept coming back to their house. One day we were hiking and when we came back the baby bear was floating in their hot tub and the momma bear was eating the garbage. I freaked out and wanted to go pet the baby bear.
He is a friendly guy and enjoys a party!
Plane tickets are a little pricey, but I did notice that it's only a 3 or 3-1/2 hour flight from Seattle to Anchorage!
