rec your neighborhood

DH and I are looking to finally buy a house.  We're a ways out still, but we (I) can't decide on a neighborhood.  I'm really wanting to build, but DH wants a house with older trees...don't get me started on that one.  I'm also wanting a neighborhood with younger families...have younger kids (younger than high school) or don't have kids yet.  Does that make since?  I guess more people our age...late 20's through 30's.

We like the Pflugerville area and the souther part of Round Rock.  Georgetown is too far.  Not South Austin.  I may be able to convince DH for Cedar Park...

Our budget is around $300k, but that's pretty flexible.  Any recs?

See, you lost all the good stuff with this part...

  • For $300K ,you can move closer into the city if you want. . . I love my area - older houses, friendly neighbors, huge trees. . . but you pay a lot more per square foot than you would in RR,or Pflug.  We're central - just north of 2222.  Our friends live in different parts of Milwood and it seems like that is a good area - nice houses, friendly neighbors, etc for not quite as much cost.

  • We bought a house in Wells Branch last year and love it here. There are a lot of young families here. There are a lot of neighborhood amenities: 2 pools, a rec center, tennis courts, softball and soccer fields, miles of running/walking trails, a pond where you can fish (it's catch and release). 300K will go a long way here. We paid less than 200K for our house. It's a 2 story, 1825 sq ft, 3 bed, 2 1/2 bath, 2 car attached garage, large yard with a deck and a shed.

    Agreed.

  • We just moved into Walsh Trails in Cedar Park.  LOVE it!  It's off of Parmer and Brushy Creek Road, right across the street from Brushy Creek Park/Trail.  It's a new neighborhood, but there's existing trees.  We were in the same boat as you guys...we wanted trees.   Absolutely love it!  There are a ton of young families.  We don't have kids yet but it will be nice when we do because of all the kids around and because of the great parks nearby.  We are really happy there and we love the area.

  • Thanks ladies, I'll check those out.

I know, I like south austin, but I teach in Pflugerville and I HATE driving.

  • We just moved into Villages of Hidden Lakes in Pflugerville and really like it here.  There is also Blackhawk and Falcon Point all off of Kelly Lane in Pflugerville.  I really like this area out here.  We almost bought a house in Falcon Point and they have a really cool splash pad that was just built out there I believe.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards all those areas and Avalon Park which is just across Kelly Lane from Hidden Lakes.
