Who here knows health stuff???
I mean like is your DH (DW?) in the medical field???
I was wondering if someone could describe what "Trichoblastoma" is in laymen's terms, especially one that has "follicular origin".
This is what the rabbit had (benign, woohoo!) but people get them too.
Re: Who here knows health stuff???
Derm/Onc is not my specialty (and I don't deal with rabbits) but I believe it is a benign germ cell tumor. Hold on......
Basically it is a almost always benign, rare tumor which is epithelial in origin. Epithelial cells are the cells that line the surfaces of structures in the body - skin, body cavities, etc......
Does that help?

ooh thanks!
when you say "germ cell tumor" do you mean its caused by a "germ" or something else? lol. I guess I am trying to figure out how one usually gets this thing or how its caused - just so whoever gets this rabbit has an idea if this thing has a likelihood of coming back or not.
A germ cell can be thought of as a more primitive cell that has the ability to differentiate itself into different types of tissues in the body. Cancer is when a certain type of cell starts to proliferate and doesn't stop. So, it is not a "germ" like bacteria. More like wheat germ
I know the tumor you were asking about is rare - I am sorry I don't know the chance of it re-occurring.
