boarding/dog sitters in altamonte/longwood area?

We usually have a friend watch our dogs when we have to leave town or plan vacation but I've been getting nervous lately that if something emergant came up he might not be available so I want to start feeling out some other options.

Any places or people you would recommend?

Re: boarding/dog sitters in altamonte/longwood area?

  • I have used a place in Deltona, far I know, I live in Lake Mary but it's Deltona Doggy Daycare, they do boarding long and short term. The place is very clean, all the dogs have their own run/kennel and they have separate areas for big dogs, small dogs, older/special needs dogs etc. The outside area was clean (no doggy mess) and if your dog is there 5 days or longer they get a free bath. You can bring all your own toys, food, bedding and if you have more than 1 dog they can all stay in the same run. I called them and wanted to visit before we left our dog just to make sure and they said we could come by anytime so our visit was unannounced and that made me feel better knowing they always keep it clean and didn't make it look nice because we were coming. The only bad thing was the dogs bark a lot when people arrive so it was a bit noisy, though the owner said they are quiet when people aren't coming and going. HTH!
  • We use Sheeler Road animal hospital to board our dog. Its our vet too and the are great http://www.sheelerroadanimalhospital.com/

its in apopka off 436 - so kinda close to Altamonte

  • thanks ladies.  I'll look into those.   I'm willing to drive a little ways it if I find a place i am really happy with.

open to more suggestions for others.

  • I used to work at East Orlando Animal Hospital and they have really nice boarding areas. www.eoah.com

My neighbor and a friend of mine works there and we all groom and board our dogs there if one of us can't watch them, like we're going away together kind of thing. The rates vary by the size "run" you need. And they now have themed rooms you can choose from...I helped build a lot of them. They have a camping room, a NY city room, a spaceship room, football, and a mountain lodge room....they are cute.

The dogs are SO looked after and taken care of there. They  have a double fenced in area for walking and they get one on one play time if you want it while you're away.

I hope this helps. Email me if you want to know more info about this place. amandalucc @hotmail.com. :-) GL!!

  • We take our baby to Hollywood Houndz in Lake Mary in the plaza where the Dock's/Publix/Target and Staples is located on Lake Mary Blvd. right before you get to Rhinhert (sp?)....The staff is wonderful...We also use their grooming services and have used their day board services as well.

Its extremely clean and the crates where they board the dogs are huge...we have a pug so its really roomy for her....they have flat screens on the wall tuned into the Animal Planet..LOL...her reasoning behind that was to give the dogs a sense that they are home :)  They walk the dogs 3x a day and have play time with them individually.

Check it out...they will give you a tour of the areas: grooming, boarding, boutique.  Jackie is the owner and she is wonderful...her staff is great too.  We've been taking our dog there since they've opened almost a few years ago....

     HTH...

  • We use Dog Day Afternoon (www.dogdayafternoon.net). ?Our dog is very social, so it's great that she is able to play with the other dogs during the day. ?Then at night she has her own little apartment instead of a little crate. ?You can take your dog's bed and toys as well, so it will feel more homey. ?It's only $33 a day which is def cheaper (for me) than a pet sitter.
