lingerie shower question

it's too late now, because i'm going to be walking out the door to this lingerie shower in just a few minutes, but i wanted to see what you girls thought of this...

in june, i went to this girl's wedding shower. it was a tea party theme, and i bought a new tea party dress and decorated a hat at the last minute because i didn't want to seem like a party pooper.

now it's time for the lingerie shower and the invite specifically requested us to each wear white.

is it weird that the hosts of these parties are dictating our wardrobes for these events? i can't remember ever being requested to wear anything special for any showers or parties.

i'm wearing a maxi dress that does have white in it, but because i'm a little miffed about it, i'm rebelling a bit. and who wears ALL white??

Re: lingerie shower question

  • I understand one themed party.  I love that you are a rebel! lol
  • Yeah, that's weird.  Not that I think it's acceptable, but I could see maybe suggesting what to wear for a tea party.  However, why is a dress code needed for a lingerie party?  Weeeiiird.  At least they didn't ask you to wear a neglige or a fluffy robe?
  • I think it's a little weird too. I would rebel because really I have only put on a white dress twice. Once for under my HS graduation gown and the second for my wedding.

I am curious to know why you needed to wear all white. Do tell :)

  • i have absolutely NO idea why they wanted us to wear white.. they didn't take a group picture, and they didn't say anything about the white. i rode to the party with my girlfriend and she was wearing ZERO white as a sign of rebellion. nobody said anything about it. it was odd..... the bride and the sister of the bride and the MOH wore white dresses with some other color in them... black or purple or green or whatever.. the mother of the bride and her best friend wore all white. weird!

  • Really strange. I would also not be happy with having to buy two gifts (one for each party) and two new outfits. I might comply if i had it, but definitely not buy something just for the occasion.
  • Wow, I wouldn't be able to wear all white.  That's a party I might have skipped...  How was it, other than that?

it was a lot of fun other than the weird all-white request. we played a lot of fun games and the bride got a lot of really nice lingerie. :)
