HR ?

A coworker had words with another employee on Friday, she was very upset and went to their supervisor and told him she was leaving.  The supervisor told her if she left don't bother coming back.  she left.  can she collect unemployment?

Re: HR ?

  • I doubt it.  Sure sounds as if she left voluntarily.
  • yeah, that's what I was thinking.  I feel bad for her, she's in her 60's and I know she and her husband need her paycheck and insurance.  She's been having a hard time with her coworkers since she transfered into that department about 5 months ago.  Some of it I think she brought on herself, but I still feel bad for her.

  • That's iffy. If she says that she was leaving for the day and intended on coming back and he essentially fired her by saying don't bother, she might be able to make a case. It will depend on how the company decides to react-whether or not they reject the unemployment claim.
