WR: TY Notes

This weekend we received a TY note from BIL and his wife who were married in March that has me still shaking my head.  Aside from the fact that it took over 4 months to send, it wasn't even sent by the couple!  According to the return address label, it was sent by her parents! I guess there is a possibility they were just sent by her parents but there really is no way to know because they did not write anything in them.  Not even pre-printed names!  They actually resemble ours quite a bit (but so did a lot of other things) but we actually wrote a personal message to each guest/couple.  They had a black piece of cardstock under a black and white photo and a piece of vellum on top.  On the vellum they used a generic "Thank You" stamp and all was tied together with blue fuzzy ribbon.

Am I the only one who thinks this is incredibly tacky?  I don't even care about the timing but if you are going to take over 4 months, wouldn't you at least expect a signature?  Or that the couple could send them out themselves?

Re: WR: TY Notes

  • Definitely tacky and strange. They really missed the point of what thank you notes are for.

  • Well, look at it this way, considering the way things have been lately, had it not come from her parents, they probably wouldn't have sent you one at all. Angel
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Haha!  I actually was beginning to think this.  Her parents are really nice - I don't yet know how she can be related to them.  BIL probably doesn't even know they sent something.

  • I suppose it is better than nothing, but I agree with PP, it really misses the point of TY notes
