Grrr...

I just checked the website for the company that did our wedding, and of course, 5 months too late, they come out with the perfect package that includes more of the things we wanted but didn't get, and it's about $300 cheaper than what we paid.  (holy run-on sentence!)

None of the stuff we missed out on was a big deal, they were just things that I would have picked had we had more money at the time.  I probably shouldn't even keep looking at the site, but I can't help but go back and check their monthly "blog" where they give wedding advice that usually ends up kinda snarky and mean, lol.  :)

Anyway, it's all woulda, coulda, shoulda, so I can't get too bitter.

Re: Grrr...

  • Laugh at me all you want, but Martha Stewart has always been one of my idols.  Of course Sandals partnered with her right after my wedding to do their weddings.  Crying  The good thing is that I know I would have "needed" the top wedding package had they come out prior to my wedding and I would have spent $6K on it and skipped all of the DIY stuff that I brought with me.  At least it saved me some money.

No laughing here!  I'll be forever grateful to Martha for teaching me to fold a fitted sheet!

Half of my DIY items came from her line, but I probably would have been tempted to choose that upgrade too.  :)

Hmm, I need to learn how to fold a fitted sheet!

That stinks about the extras that came out after your wedding - I hate it when stuff like that happens. Like, just after you buy something, it goes on sale or has a bonus offer.  I'm curious about this snarky advice they give - can you post a sample?

    Here ya go!  :)

    Being ?Fashionably late?.?

DON?T.  Just yesterday, we had a bride decide that she wanted tomake a grand entrance?and keep her guests and us waiting?for 35 minutes. It was hot yesterday, and people got ?irritable? fast.

It?s definitely NOT cool?to be late for your own wedding.  You haveall day to get ready.  Be on time. It?s very rude to your guests andeveryone else involved?.not to be.

    ---------------------------------------

I think that one is funny because, while people shouldn't be late, it's obvious they don't want you to be late for THEIR sake, not the guests.

    ---------------------------------------

    YOUR wedding images:

I had a lady call me just the other day asking me about our photographs. She was concerned because shesaw a wedding on our albums page where the bride and groom appeared tohave their eyes closed in their wedding photos.

I thought that odd, so with her on the phone?I went in and looked formyself. I replied: ?Oh?I remember this one. No?they didn?t have their eyesclosed. They were actually only half closed!  They were squinting.

Nothing that I can do about that?..except?..what I had already done.

I suggested that they wear ?.their sunglasses.

NOPE. NO SUNGLASSES?.the bride said. ?I want to see his eyes?.

    OK. So?there you go.

Some people have very sensitive eyes. You?re on a beach.

The UV alone?.can be up to ?15?. So?..it?s going to be BRIGHT!!!!!!!!

Either wear your sunglasses?..or plan your wedding for morning?.before11 am?..or after 5 pm.?.as the sun is setting. It?s going to becooler, and much less bright.  Thistime of day?.mid-day can be very, very bright. (Tough for taking weddingphotos!) It?s up to you.

    -----------------------------------------

This one I find super snarky.  For one, I think a truly good photographer would be able to work with the sun in order to get pictures without squinting.  And advising them to wear sunglasses?  Who the heck wants sunglasses in ALL of their wedding pics?!!

Also, I can't stand their overuse of italics and ellipses.

  • Thanks for the link, Natalee!  I will give it a try later, and hope I can follow those instructions without a video, lol.

Katie, thanks for the examples. Those snippets crack me up, but also disgust me. In the first one, I can't believe they specifically called out a bride - like you said, it seems they made that post because they were irritated and they were hot. And the 2nd one is just insane. I'm with you, Katie - the photographer should be able to get some good shots and most brides would not want to wear sunglasses. The ellipses & italics are annoying and seem so condescending in some parts. Ugh, now I'm irritated just from reading that! I guess I asked for it though, huh? ;)
