I want to have a party for my DS on Labor Day weekend. Can someone post links to a blog that has some cute birthday ideas? I work full time and I'm a single mom, so I don't have time to do everything myself from scratch, although I need to cut costs where I can. Thanks!

Re: First birthday ideas?
I was actually going to do this for DS's birthday last October, as we're not "theme" people. I decided to do a pumpkin theme instead. I'm considering colors for this birthday as well.
As far as activities, don't worry about them. Keep things simple. People love to eat, drink, and socialize.
First birthday... I once read the Three Martini Playdate book and it had a great chapter on this topic. First birthdays should be a celebration for the parents as much as for the adorable little munchkin. You survived a year of crying and strange noises, changing diapers (who knew something so cute could make such a bit mess!) Let's be honest, is the little one going to remember the party? I doubt it... but this will be a celebration that you will remember. Keep it simple. The color theme sounds great. So easy to make a cute birthday cake and put some colorful shapes on it. Maybe even just simple, colorful cupcakes! Have fun, but make sure you get to relax and enjoy this party too.
I might make a pan of Ina's mac and cheese, and throw some hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. It should be easy to find some guy friend who would rather be watching some manly sport somewhere to watch over the grill, that way you can just relax and enjoy your guests and celebrating all of the hard work that you have done over the past year!
My best friend just did a Very Hungary Caterpillar Theme for her son - it was easy and most of the decor was just primary colors.
