Vacation Days

Sooo I started w/ 10 vacation days at my job. No one told me that I had been bumped up to 15 this year (my third year). I mean great now because I am able to take an extra day after my show w/ my kids and because I know I have some dental work to get done so I can take a day off for that and I can take a day or two at Christmas. HOWEVER I wish I had known that in APRIL when I was planning my honeymoon so I could have taken an extra day or two to do wedding prep or post honeymoon! OY!

Shouldn't they send a memo about these things?!?!?

Re: Vacation Days

  • LOL - typically, they don't :-) They don't on my job, at least! But I totally hear you on knowing back when you were planning your HM...but you should have a great time for the holidays with those extra days off!

  • Luckily I've been counting down the years to my 7th year at the bank because they explained all that to us upon hire.  I knew after my full 7th year there I'd get my 3rd week of vacation come January of my 8th year, and it came in perfect timing for the wedding. Now I'm happy that in addition to my annual vacation I can also take a week off for our family reunions in Pennsylvania!  :)  I think after 3 more years I'll get my 4th week.

  • Yeah...my job does not communicate this with the employees at all. They also keep changing the policy of when you will get an extra week. First it was you had to work a year before getting a week off and 5 years to get two weeks off. Now they have changed that and I don't even know when I will get my 3rd week off (it was 15 years at one point, but they may have changed that too)...

  • It sure would have been nice to know!!!  I work in sort of a nontraditional work environment so my boss let's me have whatever I want off...as long as he doesn't have a trial or major hearing.
