My kids are obsessed with it!! I tried getting Skyler into it when she was younger rather than the nickjr shows but she didn't like it at first ... now it's pretty much all we ever watch.
Charli will hum the theme song, and she calls it "Cebu" because her favorite episode has a silly song in it called the song of the cebu that she will walk around singing. It's so stinkin cute.
Just thought I'd see if anyone else watches VT around here. I'm thinking we are going to have a veggie tales themed birthday party or two this year ... haha.
Re: Veggie Tales anyone??

I don't really see it that way.
me either. and IMO I would rather him watch a little religious programming from time to time than some of the junk they make for children today.
Ya know, I've thought about this too!
Because it's been a while since I've watched VT, I can't promise that I recall perfectly, but I feel like I remember it being saying more of -this is a good lesson- , and not -Jesus is awesome-. Sure, they use stories from the bible, but I guess I got more of an "Aesop's Fables" vibe than a "Preacher's Sermon" vibe. If that even makes sense?
I'm certainly not saying that should make it cool with everyone, but just explaining why I personally never felt it was too pushy or overly religious.
You can see it that way or not see it that way, but that's what it is. It's fine for kids who are going to be raised in a particular religion, but we're not doing things that way. I'll expose him to religious ideas on my own timetable.
Charlie has no interest in TV anyway, so he's not watching "other junk," either.

I understand that, but the ones the girls I babysat for used to watch were obvious retelling of bible stories. I just want to bring those kinds of things up on my own time, without it coming in from cartoons. Didn't they used to sign off with "god made you special" or something like that? I'm 99% sure that they did. That's not where I want his first introduction to god and the bible to come from.

Yeah, the lessons have the religious background in them but they also teach more of the stand up for yourself, listen to your parents, little guys can do big things too type of stuff.
I'm also not saying it's for everyone but personally, I like it and I don't mind my kids watching it at all because it's not what I'm using to give them a religious education. They go to church and Skyler asks a lot of questions that I answer for her.
So after my post I did some googling, and I guess it is a bit more religious-leaning than I recall. I guess I just didn't pay close attention, lol.
I completely respect your opinion on it, Jene, and I'm sure you maintain the same stance on cartoons/shows that 'teach' other topics too that you'd prefer to cover with C2 on your own.
I seriously think that if we ever have children I'm only going to let them watch reruns of the shows I watched when I was little, haha. Well, that and college football. LOL!
You're totally right, and I found that in my googling. That's something I did not remember it from watching them!
