I ended up calling my OB office last week and changing my request from the Paraguard to the Mirena. I decided that the possibility of no period was more appealing and when I saw her she said that since it is a very low dose of hormone and it is steady (meaning the same amount all the time, not like pills that go up and down) I probably wouldn't be crazy. But my thought is if it doesn't make me crazy and no period, awesome. If it does make me crazy I just get it removed and then try the Paraguard.
I'm nervous!!!!
Booze, it's what's for dinner

Does anyone know about how long it takes to get it put in?? Is it like a quick process like a PAP?? over in a minute?? or does it take several minutes??
I have myself all worked up. I'm more afraid of this than I was to give birth.

Good luck!! Crossing my fingers that it doesn't make you crazy
I love my IUD. I had spotted for quite a while but that's probably because I got it 6 week post partum.
lol
For me it was a little longer b/c they had trouble getting the, uh, measuring stick thing in to check the size of my uterus first. Had it not been for that, it would have been a 2-3 minute process. The actual, physical insertion part, however, only took about 20 seconds I think.
Do NOT get all worked up. I worked myself up so much that I probably made it worse, lol. Yeah, it hurt, but it was soooo NOT that bad. Be sure to take some ibuprofen beforehand though. Also, do you have someone to drive you home? I drove myself home, but had to sit in their office for about 30 minutes after the procedure because I was light-headed (but I always get that way - blood draws, etc.)
Oh, and I don't know if you're normally a pad girl or a tampon girl, but you can't use tampons at first, so be sure to have some pads on hand.
ETA: Good luck!
Oh, and ditto this. This is part of what got me worked up, lol. Google is evil sometimes, hah.
