HELLPP!!!

I have a delema...i got married a 2 months ago and now my SIL is getting married. Her bridal shower is in a month and I'm in charge of games. I'm usually pretty good at coming up with games but since half the people who came to mine, are coming to this one, I need some original ideas.

the games they used were:

-a get to know the bride/groom questionaire

- bridal BINGO

- toilet paper brides

- bridal madlibs

...any other ideas???? Thank you ladies :o)

Re: HELLPP!!!

  • My friends and I usually opt for low key-games.  Those that aren't on your list that are usually guest-friendly are:

-give people a token like a plastic bracelet and 1-3 secret words like "wedding", "bride" or "gift".  If one guest catches another guest saying that word, she takes her token.  Lady with the most tokens wins.  I like this one because I'm super competitive and it's fun and gets strangers talking.  People who aren't into it give up their token and don't have to play any more if they don't want to.

-How well do you know your groom? Beforehand, ask the groom questions like "What was the name of your elementary school?" "What's your favorite shirt?" "If you could meet anyone, who would it be?".  Then at the shower ask the bride what he answered to see how many she gets right.  Give her a "punishment" for wrong answers.  Our standard is to make her add a piece of gum for each wrong.  At the ends, she winds up with like 10 pieces of gum in her mouth and it's funny and cheesy but not embarrassing.

I know you already did it but we play gift bingo at every shower and it's well-received.  I'd repeat that one.

  • 1) Find ten or twelve common  household items and place them inside each bag. You then pass these items around the group to feel. Each guest is allowed 15 to 30 seconds and then they pass the bag to the next person. Each person then writes down their guesses as to the bags' contents. Whoever guessed the most correct items wins.

    2) Have your guests examine your bride for 30 seconds to a minute. Then she leaves the room and your guests have to describe what she was wearing, in detail. Whoever gets the most items right wins a prize of some sort. Make sure she wears jewelry or something that people can right down. (not simple, you know?) OR Place a number of items on a tray, or similar and covers these items with a cloth. The cloth is then removed, for a minute or so and the guests have to memorize the items on the tray. The tray is again covered and guests have to write down on note pads as many items as they can remember. The guest with the most correct answers wins the prize. You could make it a theme, like a  Kitchen shower theme, where it is kitchen items which are used as the objects that have to be remembered. OR the bride's favorite things and put a bunch of things your bride likes or is a part of.

    3) Write a list of one half of a famous couple, real life and fictitious, guests try to guess the other half of the couple

For instance the couples could be
Michael Douglas and Katherine Zeta Jones, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Baucall, Popeye and Olive Oyl, George W Bush and Laura, Napoleon and Josephine, Nelson and Lady Hamilton, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Prince Ranier and Grace Kelley, Homer and Marg Simpson, Al Gore and Tipper, Father Christmas and Mary Christmas; and so forth.

Guest fill out the answers in a note pad the guest with the most correct answers receives a small prize.

    4) Get ten paper cups and place a different herb or spice in each cup, having marked the side of the cup with a number. Cover each cup with paper or foil and make a small hole in the cover.
Each guest has to guess the spice in each cup by the smell and write down the herb or spice, next to the number on their note pad.

The guest who can identify the most spices correctly wins the game.

  • 1- Don't say the Bride or Groom's names. Each guest gets a clothes/safety pin. Guests must say "Bride" and "Groom". If they say the B or G's name, whoever catches them gets the pin. Whoever has the most at the end wins a prize.

2- Apron Game. Attatch kitchen utinsils to an apron with safety pins. Have the Bride model for 2 minutes, then exit. Guests must then write down as many as then can think of with in 30 seconds or so. Whoever remembers the most, wins a prize.

    Good Luck! :)

  • we did a twist on the old, "household items on a tray, covered with a blanket, then uncovered and covered again, game" guests are supposed to try to remember everything on the tray. well we had the bride walk around the room with a tray of items, then left the room, the hostess then annouced that the game was actually about what the bride was wearing and had nothing to do with the tray of items. the tray/items was a gift to the bride from the hostess.

the "tray" was a baking pan and the items were baking related, some food, some tools, a cake mix etc.
