And there's an uproar (at least on my FB feeds). Honestly, I don't think it's that big of a deal, specifically because the building was one that was hit by some debris, but wasn't a landmark.

I tend to be pretty conservative about this stuff - I don't know if it's because I am a New Yorker (at heart) and was there on Sept. 11th. But, I don't see a problem with this - lots of buildings around there were hit by debris (including my then office).
I would, however, have a problem if this were the actual WTC site, only because I think that whatever is built there should be free of religious denomination. And, you have to admit there is some irony there, if it were being built on the actual site. But it is not, so no issue.
Hah. Exactly. That is like my college classmate saying she had never seen a gay person. EVER. Because you know, she would just KNOW if she saw one. We were sitting in a lecture hall of 500 people and she freaked when I told her there were probably 50 of them sitting around here at that moment.
