Favourite baby shower gift?
There are a couple of ladies ip (in person) that I know, who are pregnant, including my dear friend MrsIH 
. I am attending a baby shower next weekend and need to know.....
What was your most favourite or must useful gift that you received?
Side note, she is due very early early October and they do not know the gender.
The only thing that I have picked up is Sophie the Giraffe and the monthly "picky stickies".

Dozy Dolphin by cloud b - it's a sound machine. *I* could get used to falling asleep to the waves every night. They also make a "sleep sheep"
Sophie or other Vulli toys
O-ball toy (including the one with the little beads that they call the rattle)
kathe kruse rainbow baby. jack has been able to carry this thing around from a very early age b/c of its soft body. now he tries to put the whole head in his mouth and does like to "chew" on the ring part.
Best Ever baby mat (Jack has the frog)
Aden and Anais swaddle blankets (and burp cloths and sleep sacks) (love!)
I'm sure I will think of some others. I will be watching this b/c I need to buy my SIL who has everything something for the new baby

I think Sophie and Picky Sticky are great gifts already, nice!
Things I especially loved were off our registry - essential items that we hadn't bought yet. Or gift cards as well, not as personal but so nice when we went back to get a few items we still needed.
Sleep Sheep is a good one as Robbi mentioned as are a&a swaddle blankets, they're gorgeous! Those blankets are really pricey in Canada though ($59.99 for a set of 4 or $29.99 and up on Amazon.com). Like I mentioned the essential items were nice to receive (instead of clothes) but I did love an organic Kushie's (Canadian brand) onesie and matching blanket. You are so thoughtful, I'm sure whatever you get will be very well received.

BEST shower gifts were the ones purchased off my registry. :-)
One idea... If you are giving the monthly stickers already, why not package them up with a pack of short-sleeved white onesies, a pack of long-sleeved white onesies, and a fun pair of gender-neutral baby legs? I swear the white onesies we have are worn just about every day!
As for toys... I 2nd the Oball rec. You can also pick up a cheap pack of links.

I second the cloud b toys - we have the sleep sheep, and love it.
I also second the Oball! Great when little fingers start to grab but most things are too thick - this is perfect.
I got the mobile I registed for which I was dying for. Clothes are also super popular, but buy in larger sizes too.
got this taggies blanket (it's orange on the other side, so not nearly as obnoxious as it looks in this picture!) recently, wish I had it earlier
small/thin washcloths (I love this set) - she'll need these in the beginning, when the baby is still smaller than a regular washcloth!
board books, especially bed time books (Pajama Time, Good Night Moon, The Going to Bed Book, Brown Bear What Do You See?) or ones with different textures (touch and feel), or mirrors in them.

oh I forgot about the taggies blanket - my friend sent us one and Jack really likes it.
I agree - registry stuff is nice but I'm totally guilty of buying off registry b/c I know that BRU is sometime limiting and may not carry some of the more unique and fun items I buy at local boutiques or online.
Good point. I LOVED one particular gift that came from a local boutique minutes from our house
In fact I went back there and bought some a&a blankets and a Miracle Blanket.

Ohhh...thank you Tara. Totally missed that. Looks like they have the giraffe too. It's unfortunate they not have either one in the english version only en francais Was kind of thinking of running with a little giraffe theme
