Need gutters.

My husband put up a ?lovely? rain diverter.  I want it taken down and have a gutter put up ? just over the porch part.  It is a small job and I hope it has a relatively small price tag.  I live in Blaine.

Anyone have recommendation on who to call?  Anyone want to give me insight as to how much gutters cost? I have read $3-5 per foot.

Re: Need gutters.

  • If you or your DH are at all handy, gutters are insanely easy to do yourself.  The brackets, joints, downspouts, and gutter pieces are easy to find at a regular old hardware store.  I got all my supplies at Home Depot and installed them across the back of my house with my Dad's assistance in under an hour.  The only tools you need are a measuring tape, a hacksaw, a screwgun (cordless is best!), and a chalk line.  The chalk line makes it super easy to line up but if you don't have one, you can do it without, just have to measure more.
  • We used Tonka Seamless Gutters.  They were great!  We had one side of our (unattached) garage done, from phone call to install it took about 4 days, and cost us $250.  I don't remember the exact measurement of the garage... maybe 80 feet?  I have searched in my email for the quote but I think I deleted it.  At any rate, we were very happy with Tonka Seamless Gutters.  A friend had looked up gutter companies on Angie's list for us and they were highly rated.

  • Thanks anita.

My husband says he is handy.  He put up the rain diverter....I want it taken down.  I crawled up on the roof to get a looksy on how it held up over the winter and was so sad at what I saw - rusting nails, the shingles were not flush with the diverter (so snow could get under them).  I would much rather pay a couple hundred and know my roof is fine.

I second this!  Tonka Seamless Gutters is a regular customer where I work & they do a great job.  I've used them, my dad's used them & we refer them to homeowners all the time.
