Looking desperately for a Rental Home
Hello GR nesties! I am moving to Grand Rapids in a couple of weeks and have lurked on this board for awhile to get some information and check out the coolest ladies in town. 
I just spent 4 days in town last week with a Realtor looking for a rental home and returned frustrated and not having found a place.
I am moving to start a new job at Spectrum downtown and my husband is staying in Kansas City until our house sells and/or he gets a job. We have a cat and an 80 pound dog. So! We are looking for something with some space (for all our stuff) and a yard (for the pets) that isn't too far from work- any of the suburbs would be ok. I even looked in Rockford (which I loved!). We are trying to stay in the $1000/month price range while we are still holding a mortgage.
The realtor showed us mainly townhomes and condos. These would be fine if we didn't have a dog. I really can't imagine putting her on a leash and walking her out every time she wants to go potty! I'm just so used to a fenced in backyard. The fence is not a must, but just some yard/grass would be great!
Any tips or help or advice you guys have would be much appreciated! Maybe the rental of our dreams in our price range just doesn't exist. I realize that it's a temporary home until we sell our house and decide to buy, but I'm really holding out for a good fit. Please let me know if you have any ideas!

I just looked on craigslist under apts/housing for rent and added "fenced yard" to the search function. There seems to be a ton of stuff in your price range, but I guess it would all come down to location:

Thank you so much! I have been looking on craigslist daily, but I never used the search/filter function. Duh! This definitely helps narrow the search down. I will keep searching and let me know if you come across your contact that flips and rents. I appreciate it!

KASA- thank you for the welcome wishes. I am a long time Nestie and am on the health/fitness and fashion/beauty boards a lot (mostly lurking). I really the like feel of this board- everyone seems really nice and helpful! I am not in the mommy club (yet!), but I feel the support of all the ladies and moms on this board. It is great!
Do some of you get together outside of the "virtual" group?
We do get together from time to time for GNO's (girls night out), although we haven't in quite awhile, actually.
I don't have any advice on finding a rental either, but welcome! There was a nice house in our neighborhood (fenced yard and everything) that had a for rent sign up until 2 weeks ago, and now someone moved in. I'll keep my eye out, though!

Very cool! I am a Registered Dietitian on 4S and 6S. It's nice knowing you work at one of the best hospitals in the country. I haven't had time to search for that guy that flips houses, but I will let you know if I figure it out. GL searching for that rental!
