I am out! We had a locksmith come and he was so perplexed by the door. He fixed it, but has no idea how it broke in the first place (apparently a piece slipped in the lock mechanism, but the space it fell into was way smaller than the piece- so no clue how that happened!).
In any case, I love freedom. DH and I went to Founder's to celebrate
