Eye makeup remover?

I need some suggestions.  I was using one by Mabeline (sp?) for awhile and it was just okay (nothing spectacular, but it worked).  It ran out, so I bought one by Neutrogena and OMG do I hate it!  It has made my eyes really itchy and they burn.  I have been trying some days w/ no makeup and that's the only thing that has changed recently so it has to be what's causing my eyes to bother me.

Can you rec what you use?  I want something that isn't harsh but gets the eyeliner off (that's my biggest issue) without causing any drying or itching.  TIA!

Re: Eye makeup remover?

  • I've been using Vaseline as an eye makeup remover since high school.  It gets everything off, and it doesn't dry my lashes or eyes out.  It actually keeps my lashes pretty moisturized.  Added bonus - it's super cheap and you only need a tiny bit, so a little tub that you would get in the travel section of a store can last upwards of 6 months.  GL!!
  • I don't know what I use now, it was just whatever I found at Target for the cheapest price.  But, I used to have a bottle of Mary Kay's eye makeup remover and I liked it a lot.  I just don't get it anymore because it's expensive and I don't talk to the girl who sold the 1st one to me (she used to be my sister's friend).

  • I use baby oil. Works like a charm.

Edit: A little bit goes a LONG way.  I barely dampen a tissue when using it.

  • I had a bottle of the Mary Kay stuff for a long time, too!  It did work well, but I didn't like the oily feeling it left on my eyes and yes, its too dang expensive (plus I also do not talk to that rep anymore).

For those of you that use things like vaseline or baby oil...  Do you find any dryness?  Itchy eyes?  Eye irritations?  Greasy/Oily eyes as a result?  I never thought of either of these to try but it would be so much less expensive.  I am willing to try most anything that is going to give my poor eyes some relief.

  • My eyelids are a little oily afterwards, but I never use an excessive amount.  If you take off your eye make-up first, and then do your traditional face wash afterwards, it helps with the residule oiliness.

Oh, and no, it doesn't irritate my eyes.  Take your contacts out beforehand, though (if you have them).

Nope, no dryness, itchy eyes, or irritations.  I wipe it off with a damp cloth, then use my usual face wash, so I don't have any greasy or oily eyes.

  • I use Ponds Cold Cream... works like a charm and is gentle on your eyes.

  • I used to use baby oil because that's what my mom always used, but I didn't like the oiliness,  Now I just use baby wipes. Pretty cheap, work well, and don't bother my eyes.
  • i also use ponds cold cream, it works great!

  • A few suggestions to you:

Rimmel makes one that I love. It's not oil-based, and it gets everything off.

http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com - This is great for your skin, and will get all your makeup off.

Or, Ponds cold cream is always good for getting makeup off. :)
