I need some help finding some shoes. I have plantaar faciitis and am limited on what I can wear. I need shoes that (a) have a small heel (either flats or less than 2"), (b) do not have an open back (no clogs), (c) can fit my orthotics inside (they are very thin so they fit in flats, gym shoes, and my wedges).
I have a hard time finding anything that is comfortable, cute, or fits my podiatrist approved guidelines. I have 3 pairs of flats and each of them are great, but each also comes w/ a small inconvenience. Basically I'm trying to get myself out of the habit of wearing my gym shoes so much; I wear them 85-90% of the time and I need and want to wear more casual/dress shoes. I am pretty open to styles as long as they fit the criteria above. I never know what looks good and don't have anyone to coach me. TIA!

I am a low heel and zappos junkie.

DH has orthodics for flat feet and he has the hardest time finding shoes as well so I sympathize. I work retail part time so I'm on my feet quite a bit and here are my suggestions.
Born or Dansko clogs - they have closed heel models. I wear Born ones (found them at DSW) and LOVE them. They are really really comfortable and not totally unfortunate looking. My sister is a doctor and she has to wear nice shoes and nice clothes for rounds. She totally can pull of wearing the same black danskos she wears with her scrubs with her nicer outfits.
I also really like my croc shoes. They have some models, Rx maybe?, that are meant for people with foot issues. They aren't all the strange garden looking shoes that you see around either. Check out their website at www.crocs.com I would suggest with their shoes to get ones with ventilation holes in them if you're planning on not wearing socks. I bought a pair of ballet flat type shoes without them and my feet get sorta clammy after a while but they're super comfy.
I actually could see myself wearing these. I work in a business environment, but do a lot of walking, so this is a nice compromise:

I have a pair of Croc Mary Jane style shoes that I love. I just found the cutest pair of shoes from there, too. I think I could actually get away w/ these. I could wear them to work, w/ capris or jeans, skirts... They seem like they would be good multi-functional shoes for work, dress, casual??

Oh and thanks for the suggestions so far ladies. These are great and not ones I would've thought of!
Danskos. No lie, they are so comfortable! They are clog-like, but have a back. I have plantar fasciitis too, and I have no foot pain with them. I also have seriously flat arches, and they're a great support. I'm on my feet all day at work, but they get me through the day with no foot pain. One warning - they are expensive. About $100 at Nordstrom - look for sales.

My mom has the same foot issue and SWEARS by her Dansko clogs. They are pricey but great quality.
