I am a former DW bride (2007) and need some Mexico help. When DH and I got married in South Lake Tahoe on June 2007, we blended families to have an immediate family of 3 teenagers. Needless to say we are not young and this was a 2nd marriage for each of us. Anyway, we have watched our two oldest graduate from high school this past June, have watched the oldest son leave for the Army, and the dauhter to the Navy. One left at home that will graduate in June 2012. This is also the year of our 5th anniversary.
The background has brought me to this. For our 5th anniversary I want o plan a surprise trip to Mexico for DH and I. I am contemplating either Excellence Playa Mujeres or El Dorado Royale Casitas. In conjunction with the trip, I want to plan a vow renewal as we will really be just starting our lives alone.
Question is which resort and has anyone had experience with either wedding department of these resorts? I have read reviews but I would love to have some first hand experience references as well.
TIA!!!
Kim
Re: Former DW bride needs help ....
Hey Kim! We were married in Cancun but at Moon Palace. I am in your shoes... two have graduated (one graduated college already) and have 4 teens left at home! We'll be "starting fresh" in 5 more years!!
Good luck! I hope someone has some reviews for you!
Kim - we were treated like royalty (not sure if it's because we stayed at Cancun Palace with our guests and had unlimited private functions in our contract -- or because they're just that nice...)
We had a wonderful experience. The water at moon palace isn't turquoise -- you see a lot of seaweed/darker patches -- it was electric blue at cancun palace. They do have a couple of resorts, I would look into them. We're planning on going back for our 5 year anniversary. (heading to Aruba next month to celebrate our 2 year anny)
I can send you some pics if you'd like....
Happy planning!!!
Lisa
I would love to see some photos. I am up in the air about Moon as it is so HUGE!!! I think the adult only one in Cancun is Sun so I might check them out as well. Call us goofy but we love the look of Xpa Hu!
