Sex During/After Pregnancy
My hubby and I aren't trying to get pregnany quite yet, but we've always wondered how long we can have sex if I'm pregnant? Do people have sex even if she's 9 months pregnant? I'm sure I'll ask my doc these questions when the time comes, but we're curious.
Also - what about AFTER pregnancy?! That's the real question! My SIL says because she tore and wasn't sewn back up, that she doesn't look right down there anymore. Does it feel different? Worse? Is it months after you give birth?
Thanks!!!
Re: Sex During/After Pregnancy
Did your sister give birth in the back of a van? WTF wasn't she stitched up? That cannot be true; I'm calling shenanigans on that.
I literally LOL'ed after reading this.
OP- you can have sex through your whole pregnancy, as long as it is okay with your doctor. Sometimes women get put on pelvic rest for various reasons, but everyone is different. As for after pregnancy most doctors recommend waiting at least six weeks to make sure you heal properly.
As long as your doc gives you the go-ahead, you should be fine. There might come a point as you get close to your due date that your doc will ask you to abstain, but for the best part of that 40 weeks, you should be good to go.
Afterward, like PP said, it's usually 6 weeks (longer for a C-section, I think?).

I can only tell you about during.. since I am pregnant now with my first baby. I have been able to before but now I am in the 3rd tri and honestly its just not comfortable even if I want to have sex. And then you have others who has no libido during pregnancy at all! I know 2 nesties who are like that! So it really depends on your sex drive. If you are like the two nesties I know.. there will be no sex! Sorry. Hope that doesn't happen to you.
Yep. In fact, many couples have a lot of sex at the very end of the pregnancy in hopes that it will help bring on labor (although I believe research suggests you have to have a LOT of sex for this to have a decent chance of working).
Ditto PPs on the standard postpartum recovery time.

Sex during pregnancy is a go. We only had to lay off for a two week period because I was dialating quickly and my OB wanted us to wait 2 weeks more to be sure that the baby was healthy. But, it all ended up fine.
As for recovery time, it's at least 6 weeks for any vaginal birth, but it could be more. Everyone is different. The first few times are scary, and sometimes uncomfortable. I tore pretty badly, and we waited about 3 months, but that was just because I was afriad to do it again. Since having our baby sex does not feel any different to me or my husband. Our sex life, emotionally at least, is much better than before we had DS.

Haha! You can call whatever you'd like, I'm just sharing with the class what I've heard. And yes she did give birth in the back of a van ...
Ok, totally kidding!! She was in a hospital! :P
