I'm breaking my own rule by asking...
We're going to my DH's godson's birthday party, and he's turning six.
Anyone know what's big with six year old boys at the moment? He's an active kid who likes to run around, ride his bike, play soccer, etc.
Re: Six Year Old Boys....
I always buy kids books and then something fun. I'm a complete book nerd, though, but I have books my favorite uncle bought me as a kid (he passed away when I was 9) and I still treasure them to this day...I love the sentimental value! The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are really popular right now, but I tend to go with classics, Beverly Cleary, Rahl Dahl, and Judy Blume, for example, all have age appropriate books.
DH bought our nephew a skateboard when he was that age (nothing fancy, just from Target or whatever) and he absolutely loved it.

The 6 year old boys in my class are into:
Books: David books by David Shannon and Pigeon books by Mo Williams (both very funny)
Rescue Heroes
Baktogons (spelling?)
The normal action figures (spiderman, buzz lightyear)
They are like good guy action figures and non-violent....of course my boys make them bad
