So, at the risk of opening a can of worms, I would just like to say that I am THRILLED and PROUD to be a resident of California now that it has ruled the ban of same-sex marriage as unconstitutional. I have so many friends and loved ones in long-term, committed relationships who have been unable to express their love in the way we all did some 9+ months ago. How great a world it would be if everyone willing to show such dedication be allowed to do so under the law. YAY!
PS- I know that not everyone shares my enthusiasm, but I completely respect all informed and rational opinions.

Re: Prop 8 discussion
I was just watching Last Comic Standing this week and I think Myq Kaplan said it best in his set... something like... racist people used to think interracial marriages shouldn't be allowed, they thought "don't let them marry US, make them marry each other!" Now with gay marriage, people are thinking "don't let them marry each other, make them marry US! Wait... what?" Hahaha, it cracked me up.
Well, we kinda already have. I've learned it's so easy to get your medicinal card, it's almost comical! (Note: I don't partake, just noticing a cultural trend.)
I have been paying attention to the news less than I've been on here. Just curious since it didn't pass in the election, how did things change? I guess I could look it up... I'm just ready to fall asleep already and I'm being lazy.
P.S. There's a weed shop right by my favorite coffee shop... I hate it.
MY BLOG!
It'll just be interesting to see what happens, how it's handled, etc. I'm an amused bystander.
I agree. I was really let down with Maine's last vote.
But hurray for California!

So glad for the ruling--let's hope it doesn't get reversed.
This is the thing that bothers me: this is not a state issue. This is a constitutional issue, and the judge made that very clear in his ruling. I know the federal govt is staying out of it and has made it a decision for the states in order for the states to be held liable for the outcomes of these votes. The whole situation just pisses me off, and to know that in this day and age discrimiation is still acceptable/legal drives me batty.
This. Exactly.
