Kid's birthday ideas needed.

My nephew's 6th birthday is coming up, and I want to do an activity with him instead of buying him more toys that lay around the house.  I was thinking of taking him go-carting.  Is there anywhere in the metro or East metro that still does go-carting?  What other activities would be fun for a kid this age?  I was also thinking about Nickelodeon Universe, but beyond that I am stumped.  Any ideas??
Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

Re: Kid's birthday ideas needed.

  • I think an activity is a great idea and something they will value and remember much longer than another toy.

The Children's Museum, Underwater World, and mini-golf are the first things that come to mind.

The last time I went go-karting was several years ago at a fairly ghetto place somewhere on the edge of Saint Paul.  I wouldn't suggest it...

  • I can't wait for my boys to be old enough to enjoy the Science Museum. There is always Como and the MN Zoo.  The History Center may also be an idea depending on what exhibts are currently there.
  • I think Raceway To Fun in Newport is still open, but I haven't been there in almost 15 years, so it could very well be the ghetto one pp was referring to.

  • Is there still a Grand Slam in Eagan somewhere? I thought that was a blast when we went there several years ago. Batting cages, mini golf, arcade. Lots of fun stuff!

Grand Slam is actually a great idea!  They closed the Eagan one and built a brand new one in Burnsville right next to Skateville.  It's great, lots of stuff to do.  My high school aged sister works there too :-)

Bowling would be fun too.  I know the Lakeville Brunswick Zone is pretty sweet.
