When you meet new people...
do you refer to yourself as Mrs. DH name?
I always refer to myself as Carmen lastname.
Working with the public I have noticed that many older women refer to themselves as Mrs. DH name. And some even sign their names as that.
I always found that odd.
Who let the dawgs out?

Re: When you meet new people...
I always introduce myself as Carrie Lastname...although I occasionally purposely leave off the last name unless it's necessary (or unless they ask). It's amazing to me how often people get confused and call me by my last name, thinking it's my first name.
Do you mean that you've heard older women introduce themselves as Mrs. Lastname? Or, like, Mrs. Shawn?

I am Tiffany lastname...and honestly, I sign my name as Tiffany maidenname lastname...I'm having trouble letting go of my maiden name. anyone else?
I would never refer to myself as Mrs. DH's name.
Do you think it's an older southern lady thing?
They say "this is Mrs. Tyler lastname"
Okay, that makes more sense.
It does sound to me like it's an "older Southern" thing. I'm not sure I've ever been around people who introduce themselves that way, but it has a sort of "Gone With the Wind" feel to it, doesn't it?

Lauren lastname. And can I just say that I LOVE having dh's last name. I never have to repeat my last name twice. I had to say my maiden name 3 or 4 times and usually spell it for people. annoyingg
I see it as a very formal introduction. something that's used on wedding invitations and when you're announced at your wedding as mr. and mrs. dh's name. I could never see calling myself that on a daily basis.
tiff, you write out your maiden name and dh's last name? that's too much writing for me! haha
Truthfully, I never use my maiden name. I was just thinking about that yesterday, for some odd reason. I didn't make it my middle name or anything, so it's no longer part of my "official" name.

I agree, Lauren. Thats why I think i've held on to my madien name. b/c my new last name is so annoying. I always get 500000 questions about it and weird looks. I've stopped saying it and gone straight to spelling it. I told dh that he knows I really love him to go from my easy last name to his! lol
when i sign my name I sign "tiffany L KleySquigglyLine" lol so it's not that much. haha
SO, you kept your original middle name? is that common where you are from or in your family?
DH and I were talking about that recently b/c his step mom uses her original middle name and the dad's last name. I found that strange b/c now that they are divorced I wondered if she would change her name back to her maiden name and DH didn't even know it!
Yeah...I really think this is a north/south difference, for the most part. Growing up, I had never heard of a woman making her maiden name her middle name until my bff expressed shock that her brother's new wife hadn't done that. My name now is Carrie Elizabeth S; my mom's name is Joyce Ann W. My mom was thoroughly confused when she learned that my SIL (who's from NC) would be changing her middle name to her maiden name (so she's now Leslie Maidenname Newlastname)...she had never heard of anyone doing that before!

Very interesting, Carrie!
I always wonder why things the way they are! lol
