Groupon: Tour Chateau St. Croix Winery
I thought I'd post this in case anyone is interested.
Today's groupon deal (click here): "$30 for a winery tour for two, a five-wine flight, and two bottles of Thoroughbred Red at Chateau St. Croix Winery and Vineyard in St. Croix Falls, WI ($65.00 value)"
The winery is about an hour away from the cities.
Re: Groupon: Tour Chateau St. Croix Winery
You can use it any day before March 1st, 2011 - you just have to make a reservation.
From the website:
The Fine Print
I just bought this! I've never been to a winery before so I'm really looking forward to it!
We went there for our anniversary and didn?t buy the Groupon thing- it was only like $6 for the tour, tasting (3 wines each) and wine glasses.
I just looked at the Chateau St. Croix Winery website this morning because a friend suggested that we all buy the Groupon deal and go on a group outing to the winery.
Looking at their website, it looks like you could get a similar deal by just going to the winery. Without the Groupon, the tour/tasting costs $6 per person, and the wine they advertised in the Groupon deal is regularly $15 a bottle. So, if purchased at the regular price at the winery, the tour for 2 and 2 bottles of Thoroughbred Red would cost $42, so getting it for $30 isn't a HUGE savings. It also means that you get 2 bottles of Thoroughbred Red, not 2 bottles of your favorite wine, and for $12 more, I think I'd rather have the flexibility to buy my favorite wine and not have only one choice with the Groupon deal.

For what it is worth, I just toured that winery last weekend. I had a good time. learned a lot- it is not far away at all. The owners are a younger- totally adorable couple!
The tour is short however- so make a day of it, Make some plans for in St. Croix or Taylors falls, walking, hiking- Go down by the river - Make it worth your while.
