So....how is the new jobby job? (besides depriving you of us, of course. we all know that part is just awful.)
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Hai!
Job=meh. Culture shock considering my last uber casual Victorian-home, small firm environment. I forgot many things about corporate life. I'm kind of shoved away from my department, which SUCKS. No one's really reaching out in a friendly way. It seems like people just do their job and go home. I have to keep reminding myself why I took the job. I just miss my old job and old work friends and most of all = Internet eff off time.
I'm hoping it's just a phase and I can acclimate soon.
How are you?

I'm sorry things aren't as great as they can be yet. I'll admit, I'm probably a lot like your co-workers. I work, I go home, rinse, repeat. But then again, there is no one in my office in my demographic, really. One of my temp jobs had a great atmosphere with group lunches and happy hours. I kinda liked it but I was definitely out of my comfort zone there.
Me, I'm okay. Frustrated with the job and job search. I still like the work, but I'm not digging the feeling like some people there don't respect me in my position. Not particularly fond of someone snapping their fingers at me and telling me to hurry up when I know for a fact they wouldn't act like that with any of the other attorneys. But like DH says, just more incentive to hit the job search hard.
Hopefully things will look up at work for both of us soon!

Those a-holes better show you some respect! They gotsta recognize.
Have there been any hot leads? I would sen you job dust, but last time I did, it failed for SBS and keb.
I'm not used to NOT having work friends. Maybe it's just too soon yet. I'm thinking of talking to my supervisor about how isolated I feel from the department, but I don't to seem too sensitive and needy.

No hot leads, but at least there are openings out there. That's slightly encouraging. I haven't heard anything from my last interview (dream job), but they took the job listing down, which is not a good sign. I need to find something soon, though! I need some dental insurance...my wisdom teeth are starting to crowd my teeth and I'm not digging it.
I wouldn't go to the supervisor just yet. Maybe people there just need time to warm up to the new girl.
Do they have departmental meetings regularly?

Ouchies! Temp jobs should come with insurance.
So, actually - when I was having a little chat with my supervisor today and she was asking me how the first week went, I bit the bullet and said I was feeling isolated from the rest of the department. She totally got it and started making arrangements to move some equipment to make room for another cube behind her. And bonus - it's also a window view.
I'm hoping that helps a lot with my transitioning.
