OK, the AW part first:
We're going to Montreal for my interview to get my green card. This means after 3 years of perfectly legal marriage, I can go and live with DH in the US. Sucks I have to fly across the country for this interview, but I love Montreal so I guess that's OK. Wish us luck!
Travelling with IL's:
SIL and HH are meeting us in Montreal for a weekend. They live on the east coast and we never get to see them. Maybe once every 2 years or so? Anyway, they kept saying this trip would be for us to "catch up" and blah blah blah. So a few days ago, SIL emails me to tell me they've invited their friends to come along. Uh, OK? What happened to this "catch up" weekend? It's turned into a weekend for them to have fun with their friends (who live in the same city as they do) and for DH and I to tag along, rather than family time. HH sent a group email stating what they were going to do in MTL, and that we could "join them" if we wanted. Thanks.
DH's family wants to plan a group trip for Christmas of 2011. Fun times...
Anyway, that's my AW and pity-party bit...
Re: Travelling with IL's (vent) and sorta AW
First off I am OVER THE MOON happy for you that you are getting your green card! YAY!!!
Second, IL's... yep, I've had my ups and downs and sometimes it's the little things (or big) that get under our skin. Sometimes it's the way an email is worded too (had this happen last night, lol). Regardless I really hope it's a fun weekend and perhaps you and YH can branch off and just do your own thing one of the days?
I love Hawaii!

Thanks, Tara!
Yeah, I would be fine with doing our own thing while they did theirs. It's just that at first, they made it sound like they were coming to MTL so that they could see the city (of course), but also to spend time with us. I can honestly count the number of times I've seen SIL and HH on one hand (usually with a lot of family around) and they're always saying on how they want that to change, how they want to get to know me more.
In my mind (and maybe it got distorted somewhere along the way), this trip went from, "We want to spend the weekend enjoying the city and catching up with you guys" to "We and some friends of ours, are coming up. This is our itinerary. Join us if you want."
Either way, I'm sure we'll all have fun. I was just a bit surprised, I guess.
Oh wow! Green card, yeah! That's fantastic news!
Boo to SIL - that's sucky of them.
