Happy thoughts about your DH

I thought since it's Friday, one of the best days of the week for most of us, that I would try to get our positive juices going with a question.

What is something nice that your DH has done for you lately?

Re: Happy thoughts about your DH

  • He came to my work on Wednesday and convinced me it was okay to leave for the day :)  Needless to say it wasn't for something romantic....but to get yard work done!

  • He cleaned the powder room yesterday :-) and I am ALWAYS the one who cleans the bathrooms! He said he would even try to clean the full bath today, since I shouldn't always be the one doing it.

Oh and long story short, he bought his mom a 42" tv 4 yrs ago, and it wasn't working, so she bought a new one and DH fixed it! so we'll have a 42" tv in our bedroom!! He spent only about $100 on parts and a bunch of time but he is quite the handy guy. I am more and more amazed at his skills as he can figure out how to fix EVERYTHING.

  • DH was waiting at the door with flowers when I got home the other day from work, and says 'happy 90 days of marriage, wife!'... I started crying instantly, because I had a lousy day at work and because I can count on two hands the number of times I've received flowers. It made me remember why I fell in love with him. :)

  • He cooked dinner and cleaned and took the dog out and all of the things we normally share responsibility for while I sat on the couch with a glass of wine after a bad day yesterday.

He also has been extra lovey lately and looks at me when I have a towel on my head and no makeup and just says "Wow, you're beautiful." I think he knows I've been feeling like a fatty lately and is being extra complimentary to make me feel better. Yay hubby

  • Last week, he cleaned the garage up! It has been a mess since we moved in back in February. He organized everything, threw out alot of trash and then took care of walking/feeding the dog and the cat. I was so excited to be able to finally park my car in the garage!

This week he surprised me with my favorite ice cream...He knew this week was hard on me and knows that my comfort food (well one of them) is mint chocolate chip ice cream...yum!

Now if I can just get him to help clean the dishes and pick up his dirty clothes off the bedroom floor...That will be a big surprise when that happens....

  • He told me how much of a great cook I am. This made me especially happy because I'm been trying really hard to come up with some good recipes and I'm glad he likes them so much. :) And it boosts my confidence!
  • Well, my DH is not one for romantic gestures.  I think I'd fall through the floor if he bought me flowers for no reason - he's only gotten them for me once, on Valentine's Day the first year we were dating. He doesn't come home with my favorite candy, buy me a sappy card, write me a love note etc.  But, he is sweet to me every single day, loves to cuddle, and gives the best hugs ever.

The funny thing with him is he's not sappy with me directly, but sometimes romantic when he mentions me in his blog or Facebook status.  Like, recently I surprised him with his favorite meal when the came home from a particularly rough day at work, and his status was that he came home to an amazing meal prepared by his beautiful wife.

The most recent thing is that this past weekend, it was one year since we got engaged. He remembered this before I did and when we woke up on Sunday he curled up next to me and said "happy engagement-iversary".  Not quite the grand gesture of some of your DH's but pretty good for him...

  • Well, I was kind of drawing a blank on what DH has done for me lately...  But, he does tell me I am a great cook because I have also been experimenting with dinners lately (if we are friends on FB, I always post new recipes).  But, he often stays home with my son so I can go out with my girlfriends and for the last year and a half, he has been getting my son up for school and keeping an eye on him at the bus stop.  So, those things are the sweetest.  I took my son to school for his whole life, so for the past year, I have gone into work early and he has taken over.

    I love him!

     We are lucky ladies!

  • Specific: DH made dinner for me while I worked out last night, since I needed a work out (stressful day)!

General: DH is a night owl and I am a morning person, and DH is trying his darnedest to adjust to the morning, which I really appreciate because I am good for nothing at night!

  • He told me what a good job I do at cooking for and taking care of him and Amanda.

  • About a month ago, he took me to my favorite frozen custard place.  It's special cuz it's about 30-40 min from our place and there are only 2 locations so it really is a treat.

Also, last night his bosses were buying pizza for some customers (I think) and offered DH some.  He said, "no thanks, my wife is making an awesome dinner tonight".  He was so excited to be having homemade pork sausage (yes we are country like that) and hashbrown casserole.

  • DH and I are both teachers, his first day wuth kids was Monday and I still don't have them until next week, so, he has been super stressed and having to get up early while I get to sleep in and lounge at the pool.  Out of the blue, right in the middle of his day, he calls me on his lunch break (which never happns) and says "I just want you to know that I love you so much and I miss you so much, I just can't wait to see you this afternoon!"  What a sweet thought in the middle of his first day back!
  • DH and I don't do a lot of special things, but we do little silly stuff to show how we appreciate each other.  It's more about how we are with each other than particular moments, if you understand.  Like, he installed the A/C in the new apt on Wednesday and then asked jokingly, "so since now I have done my manly duties will you be all domestic and heat up some Chinese food for me?"  And while that might sound a bit off, I actually found it endearing.  I've been independent for so long, it's kind of nice to have someone to take care of.  And then I might go back to the bedroom to get ready for bed and find that DH placed the puffy heart I got him for Valentine's years ago while in France (says "je t'aime" on it, lol) on my pillow.

The most recent "nice thing" DH has done for me is to trust me to go on a trip to IKEA and pick out some nice stuff for the new apartment and not break the bank, hehe :)  Nah, we're just really comfortable with each other, and we laugh and tease each other a lot.  I can relate to what Lori says.  There's not a lot of fluff in our relationship, but we can be really silly and goofy and teasing with each other, which is the best!
