T&P please

Jay's grandma had a stroke today, she has had one before and she is doing okay now but the doctors say that there is a chance she could have another one.  She is 92 and her health has been failing but she has been doing well for a while so this was a shock.  Jay was really close to his grandparents and when his grandad passed a few years ago it hit him really hard.

Do you think it would be a good idea for me to call my boss tomorrow and let her know that there is a possibility we could have to fly out for the funeral soon?  She could live for a few years but it could be days.   I don't want Jay to have to travel alone if it happens soon.

Re: T&P please

  • I will keep you in my prayers.

Depending on your situation, I don't think it is a bad idea to let the boss know. I feel it is always best to prepare for the worst case and then the boss is able to plan.

  • Lots of prayers going your way! I would tell my boss just in case they don't get unset about you calling in.
  • Sending you tons of T&Ps.

I probably would give my boss a heads up and just let him know the situation so that way he's prepared if it does happen in the near-ish future. And you can always give him an update in a few weeks (or so) and let him know that everything is either looking up or going downhill.

  • Definitely thoughts your guys' way. I hope you get good news about her soon. And ditto others on calling your boss for a heads up. They should understand, it's your family too.

    this!

    I hope she's ok!

  • Sending T&Ps to you guys.  It's so rough to lose a grandparent you're close to.  I remember losing my grandmother and it was so difficult.

I also ditto everyone else about just letting your boss know the situation.  I think it's a good idea to give some warning so it doesn't pose a potential problem.
