For those of you looking for trip destinations

Sigh.  Darn nice.  My friend is there (in Bali) as a project manager of the construction.  He's staying in a huge suite and eating awesome meals for free.  So... if you're Indonesia-bound, put this one on top of your list.

Or, spend a few minutes looking at the website and enjoy a mini-getaway.

  • Gorgeous....actually the prices of lodging aren't all that bad. I can't imagine what a plane ticket would be.

    ....running off to go check.....

  • darn...the cheapest is $1800.  Guess I have to cross that off my list. hee hee

There is a plane ticket for 9200 to go there. Surprise

  • Gorgeous!  Bali -- as described in Eat, Pray, Love -- sounded amazing.
  • I have several Indo friends from high school.  In fact my first boyfriend was Indo and their descriptions always made me want to visit Bali.

I think vacationing there is quite inexpensive, after the plane ticket.  MB, I bet with some searching and adjusting various times you could find plane tickets to there for under $1K.  It is probably just a matter of knowing when to go.

  • Bali is near the top of my list of places I really, really want to visit.  Now I need to research this more seriously.
  • Suze, did your classmates partly grow up in Indonesia?  How would a large group of them come to be part of your community?  Interesting.

My friend is from Bandung.  He and I met at Habitat for Humanity, and lead a trip to Ecuador together.  He tried to teach me his dialect of Indonesian, and actually wrote out a little dictionary for me.  I was not a very good student.

I'd love to travel there too, but I'm more interested in Jakarta than Bali.  Someday...

  • I grew up near the campus of a Christian university right near the MI/IN border.  It is one of the biggest universities affiliated with my religion and I went to a high school connected to the college.  As a result, the small town attracts a pretty diverse population.  I think most of my friends spent at least part of their early childhoods in Indonesia.  We had about 15-20 people in our group that were from either the Phillipines or Indonesia.

I feel really lucky to have grown up in that community, considering how segregated MI is as a whole.

  • That's pretty cool.  Thanks for sharing that.
