Tell me about your work laptop
I am looking for a new laptop and hoping you all might have some insight. I have a laptop at home, but it's a
gaming laptop (thanks, DH...) and about the least portable device. I am
looking for something small, yet powerful. I want to be able to remote
access into work and run our programs, which include some industry
specific applications. It would not be my main computer, but
rather something for when I am on the road. On a typical day, from my
workstation in the office, I am running Outlook, Excel, a database sort of program and 2 accounting
programs simultaneously. I am also flipping back and forth between
several folders on our servers. Does anyone have any good
recommendations of a small, yet powerful laptop with decent battery
life? Also, I would be looking to use an AT&T aircard with it, if it
doesn't come with one hardwired in.

Re: Tell me about your work laptop
My laptop was issued by my employer to ensure it has all the correct security features in place. It's an IBM ThinkPad.
Does your employer not issue them?
Ah, gotcha
I have a Gateway NV78. My employer did a lot of research and we have highup contacts at Intel, IBM, Dell, etc. and this was the laptop they recommended. My battery usually lasts at least four hours, I work from home sometimes, and am constantly multi-tasking so I have no patience for a computer that can't keep up. Another plus was it is around $500.
We used to have IBM Thinkpads and hated them.
