Doesn't anyone in SO's family know how to communicate?

First, the wedding shower...

Now, we just found out there is a wake tonight for SO's great-aunt who died a few days ago.  SO didn't know her well.  All SO got was a text from his mom the day she died.  The only way we found out about the wake at all is because his relatives that we're friends with on FB saw our status updates about going OOT this weekend & questioned us as to why we weren't going.

Sadly, none of this should surprise me.  Ever since LO was born & SO quit his job to be a SAHD (he worked for his uncle) it's almost like we don't exist to that side of his family.  I can also guarantee with no uncertainty that SO will get hell from all of them for not knowing about all these plans.

  • So they used to be good communicators or it just happened that since he worked in the family he'd catch wind of family news?

Sounds REALLY frustrating!  I guess the upside is some people are probably jealous you don't have to go.  :P
