Smartphones through TMobile?

Does anyone use a smart phone through TMobile? My contract is up in September, and I was kind of wanting to get an iphone or droid. However, I currently pay for my mom's cell phone, and it would be better to keep things exactly as they are for her (she is not a technophile) and my sister would like to join our plan too. So for simplicity's sake, it would be best if I could stay with TMobile as well. (Plus they are the underdog company, and have been good to me and I want to support them..)

So, I'm thinking of doing the smart phones offered through them.

Does anyone use or have any opinions regarding...

Motorola CLIQ

Samsung Behold

TMobile MyTouch 3G

Re: Smartphones through TMobile?

  • If you want an Iphone you can get on un-locked for T-Mobile (I had a CS rep tell me once they would walk you threw un-locking it, I don't know how much truth there is to that.) And the only data plan you would need is the $10 a month T-Zone and then any texting plan that would fit you. Just remember they count e-mails as texts.

I have played with the Behold a lot and it just feels cheep to me. I have never met someone who like it.

Out of that list I would get the MyTouch (It's a Droid).

Is there a reason you don't want a BlackBerry? I have the Bold on T-Mobile and LOVE it.

I don't know how much this would help you but here is a review I did of all the phones I have had on T-Mobile.

  • I've got a MyTouch 3G and I really like it.  I really wanted to stay with T-mobile since their plans are cheaper than the competition and the customer service is better.  In any case, I don't have any opinions about the Motorola CLIQ or the Samsung Behold, but my suggestion is to get a phone running the Android operating system.  The other operating systems (except the iPhone and what's used on Blackberries) is really subpar.  That being said, the MyTouch 3G has been out for a year and it isn't the fastest phone out there.  My husband got a Nexus One directly from Google after he ran his MyTouch through the washing machine, and it is a really nice phone.  Unfortunately, Google isn't selling them anymore, though I think they are trying to partner with one of the mobile phone companies so they can be in stores.  I'd ask someone at T-mobile about when new Android phones are coming out.  But, if you aren't concerned about having the latest, greatest phone, I'd recommend the MyTouch.  It's actually made by a company called HTC, so if you come across another HTC phone that sparks your interest, they definitely make nice phones.
  • My H and I just got the Samsung Vibrant (though tmobile) the other week and so far we really like it!

  • Lurker jumping in...

I have had the Moto Cliq for 6 months and love it.  I would buy it again in a heartbeat.  I had a BB Pearl prior to this and find this much easier to use and more reliable (BB kept deleting calls and messages without warning).  The only complaint that I have is when listening to Pandora on the bus ride to work, the voice dialer occasionally starts when we hit a big bump.  In the grand scheme of things though, it is minor to just hit the back button and keep rockin' out.

  • My husband is a manager at T-Mobile and this is what he said:

"The samsung vibrant is the phone of choice right now. far faster then the mytouch and cliq. If you are looking for a keyboard, there is a g1 blaze that will be out mid september. The blaze will have features much like the vibrant but also a slide out keyboard. "
