T&Ps or whatever it is you do...

A few days ago I mentioned that I needed ideas to keep my friend entertained while in the hospital. Those plans have changed a bit.

Friend's due date wasn't until the end of October, but they ended up having to take the baby early for J's (friend) safety, on August 5th. Baby Josie is doing really well considering how small she is - 2lb 10oz and 14in long. She's breathing on her own, now, so that's a good thing. But, J is having a really hard time. She has never had blood pressure problems before, but they can't get it regulated. She just told me she's having a blood transfusion today. She's really sick. And, I'm really worried. I feel completely helpless even though I know there isn't much I can do. I am planning on sending her her favorite flowers, but that just doesn't feel like enough.

Anyway, any thoughts and prayers and good vibes or whatever it is that you do, would be greatly appriciated.

Re: T&Ps or whatever it is you do...

  • If you don't already give blood, you could go donate this week in your friend's honor. It won't benefit her specifically, but it may help you feel like you're doing something since other people in her situation may end up using your donation.

If you can't be there in person, maybe you could record yourself reading her some magazine articles or short stories. Then she can listen to the sound of your voice while she rests.

I think it will benefit her but you have to specify. Some of us donated blood for Baby B and they credited Pinksprkls account at the hospital. I think that's how it went anyways.

T&P for your friend and her family.

According to what I was told by OBI when I requested that my donation benefit Baby B, this is accurate.  You have to specify and they'll ask for your friend's information (full name, hospital, basic info.).

Thoughts and prayers to your friend and to baby Josie.
  • Thanks girls! This is good info! Needles and giving blood make me totally queasy. But, for her I'd do anything.

  • Thinking good thoughts for your friend and her baby - hopefully they both just keep getting stronger and stronger.
  • Very scary! I hope the blood transfusion helps her out. Will be keeping her and baby Josie in my thoughts.

  • So sorry to hear this. I'll definitely say a prayer for them.

Giving blood in her honor would be an excelent thing to do. Honestly, it was one of the most touching things anyone had ever done for me, for my baby. (Thanks again, y'all!) And the credit will go to her as long as you specify.
