my new "career"

ROFL

So, I went to a Mary Kay party Saturday, I wanted the $90 skin care kit.  If you buy the Mary Kay starter kit to be a consultant it comes with a bunch of stuff, including 2 of the full size skin care kits I wanted.  I pretty much bought it with the idea, eh, maybe I'll sell, but I get the 2 kits, what a deal.  You can buy the kit and not sell a blessed thing if you want.  So now I'm going to really try to sell Mary Kay for real, it might be a fun way for me to make extra cash as a mom.  So, I meet with my sales directer Wednesday for the low down.

Re: my new "career"

  • My aunt did that for several years and seemed to do quite well with it (she even made it to the first tier of the Mary Kay cars).  I am not quite sure why she gave it up, but could have been around the time she got pregnant with her son.

  • Yeah, I just got to thinking Saturday, if I make some extra cash doing it, sweet, if not, I still got $180 worth of the kits I wanted for $100.

They lady that did the party I went to has been doing it 5 years and it is her full time job.  She is a single mom and supports her 2 kids on it.  She has a 2nd tier car.  I didn't even know there were tiers of car, I only ever think of the pink caddy

  • Good for you Jill - you can do it! I think you'll do great at it, and since you use the products yourself, then you believe in it enough to want to sell it.

  • I already have my first party, haha.  My mom, sister, aunt and one of my mom's friends.  I'm going to practice on them.  My sister already has a gigantic list of crap she wants, she is a beauty addict.

  • Selling make up is fun! Especially if you love it. GL!
  • I honestly never even thought of selling makeup for extra cash.  I'm always thinking about part time jobs, etc... but never seem to come up with anything interesting.  We shall see how it works out.

  • I did the same thing years ago.  I won the starter kit at a party so I thought, why not try it out.  I did ok but was too new to the area and didn't know many people.

I was "recruited" b/c my consultant would do mini makeovers at the store I worked at in the mall.  She did awesome and had 2 cars!

I just recently went to a pedicure party too which was a lot of fun.  That lady started in February as a SAHM and hopes to get her car by December already!  Getting members on your team is the key to that.

Let me know if you continue to sell, their eye make up remover is THE BEST!

  • I was a consultant years ago, but I really only did it b/c me and my mom and several other friends used MK products so every order I placed was mostly stuff for us, then we just paid cost.  I did sell a few things here and there to people, but overall it was more for personal use.

However they do still have products I like.  I have thought seriously about becoming a consultant again just to place one order and get the 50% discount :)  As someone stated above, their eye makeup remover is the bomb, and I love the Timewise stuff as well.

  • Girl You will be able to do it if you treat it like a business. If you treat it as a hobby then you will just lose money. If I took that advise when I first started selling than I would be a lot further along then were I am now. I have been treating it like a business for a whole month now and am going on-target to get my car!
