I just went off on some guy
I was raised to have good manners... yes sir, no sir, yes maam, no maam, please and thank you. I was coming back from the cafeteria and a guy held open the door for me. I said thank you. Well, apparently he was going in the same direction I was because we got to another door... he held it open for me. Once again, I said thank you. His response, all snotty, "You don't have to say that every single time". I gave him a go to hell look and said "well, excuse the hell out of me for being brought up with good manners!" He didn't say anything and kept walking...... here's the kicker... we get to another door. He holds it open... I yell "THANK YOU KINDLY, SIR!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY, NOW!!!!" He just stared at me with his face turning red. jerkface.
Re: I just went off on some guy
HAHA!
I always thank people for holding the door for me and secretly curse the people that let the door close in my face when they know I am right behind them. I will admitt that I feel funny repeatedly thanking people when we are going the same say so usually just mumble "Thanks again" and hope we don't go through another door together.
OMG, Stu, I think I heart you. That is just awesome.
I was just thinking this morning, as I was walking into work and some a-hole in front of me let the door swing shut behind him (despite him knowing I was a few paces behind him) that some people really could use a lesson in manners. And of course, here you are being nice and using good manners and the d*ckwad has the nerve to give you an attitude about it! You could have said, "F***k you very much, sir!" on the last door instead, haha.
HAHA thats great! Way to put him in his place!
You're awesome stu!
I hate that akward time when you're trying to decide if a person is close enough to hold the door for them, because you want to be polite and hold the door, or if you can't judge how long it will take them to get to the door and then you stand there holding the door forever. So you're either stuck looking like a jerk not holding the door because you think they're too far away or look stupid holding the door while they run up there because they notice you're holding it for them! (If any of that made sense.)
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
