Happy update on my e-ring :)

Thank you for all your positive thoughts and vibes!  You are all so sweet!

The situation has thankfully worked out as best it can considering how crazy it all was.

The jeweler said it was a freak accident and that we would have had a better chance of winning the lottery. I would rather have a winning lottery ticket! He said that the only way for the head/center setting to snap and have such a clean break was to have been hit with some force. But it didn't scratch or bend anything on the rest of the ring setting - which he would have expected. And he said it was strange that I didn't feel it or have a clue. Just the perfect, unfortunate factors and timing that fell into place. He said there is a 99.99% chance that this will never happen to my ring again so I shouldn't worry about wearing it again once it's fixed.  I think it happened when I was putting the laptop bag strap over my head to wear it across my body - think the strap caught the ring - but who knows...

The jewelry store we went through is a family store here in St. Louis that's been around for quite a while.  They didn't give us warrenty paperwork and specifics that it sounds like alot of other jewelery stores do.  When we bought the ring, they said just bring it in anytime there is an issue and they'll take care of us.  In this situation, we were nervous and really wishing we did have something in writing, but ended up being very happy with how they helped us.

I feel like we are so lucky that they were so nice and worked with us since there is technically nothing wrong or defective with the ring. And it wasn't their fault that we didn't have insurance on it yet (lesson learned!). They are going to split the cost with us on a new diamond and replacement for the head/setting that broke off.  I'm guessing it is "at cost" for them, so they aren't out anything but still helping us.  They sent it off to make a new head/setting and secure it in more places to the main setting.  I'm waiting not-so-patiently for it to come back and hoping I'll be wearing my ring by this weekend.  It's been over 3 weeks and I really miss it!

So, a happy ending!   And we will be insuring it asap!
